Bringing Bridgerton to life at 116 Pall Mall

Couples-on-staircase
Last year we were all caught up in Regency-mania, wishing we could walk around in ornate dresses, practice our dancing and attend a spectacular ball every week when Bridgerton first launched on Netflix, and luckily for us, Season 2 has arrived!

Regency dancing was a pivotal part of the series

While we can’t ensure the Ton will be in our building the next time you visit, we can transport you to another era with our décor, high standards of service and fantastic location.

It’s safe to say that Bridgerton is successfully carrying the torch lit by The Crown and other recent historical dramas and keeping the trend burning, lighting up 2021 and 2022 with its sights, sounds and beautiful backdrops. And with the first series ranked as the second most popular original Netflix series of all time, the Bridgerton style is definitely here to stay. Whether its Regency inspired fashion taking over social media, classical covers of our favourite pop songs woven throughout every episode - and streaming service! - or taking extravagant celebrations to the extreme, we’ve all been inspired to add a bit of Bridgerton bling to our everyday lives.

So how can you bring a touch of Bridgerton’s grandeur and elegance to your event or big day without needing to present yourself to the Queen first..?

Regency Romance at 116 Pall Mall

One thing we love about Bridgerton is the architecture! Filmed in real buildings and on purpose-built stages, the show captures the beauty of the homes of that period, as well as the colours, textures and materials the Bridgertons, the Featheringtons and other families furnish them with.

Built at the end of the Regency era in 1826, the beautiful 116 Pall Mall was designed by celebrated architect John Nash – who did such a wonderful job we even named a ballroom after him! Also responsible for the designs of Brighton Pavilion and Marble Arch, Nash brought authentic Bridgerton glamour and romance to the building at 116 Pall Mall, with sweeping staircases, elaborate balconies and chandeliers.

At 116 Pall Mall, we’re the proud guardians of an original 15ft Regency chandelier, that hangs at the heart of our sweeping staircase – one that wouldn’t look out of place in an episode or two. Being Grade I listed means our building is of exceptional national, architectural or historical importance, which includes our stunning interiors, cornicing, staircases and high windows.

Bringing the Bridgerton Set to Life

Sitting just a mile from Grosvenor Square, the London home of the Bridgerton and Featherington families in the series, 116 Pall Mall is also a short walk – or horse and carriage ride, if we’re staying on theme – from Buckingham Palace, adding yet another touch of regality to your special day. Within close distance to major stations and central London hotels, you and your guests won’t need to travel far to continue your revelry after the celebrations.

Play a spot of Pall Mall

We were very excited to see a few key scenes of Season 2 centre around a game of Pall Mall, a popular Regency-era game that gave our beautiful building and the road you can find us on their name. Similar to croquet, Pall Mall was played on flat surfaces, and involved hitting a ball through an iron hoop with a mallet. The area you can find us in in London was a very popular spot for the sport and was used so much for the game that it became known as Pall Mall! While we can’t guarantee a game will be about to start when you arrive, the history of the area is plain for all to see in our ballrooms, garden and dining areas.

Bridgerton Ball

We hosted a Bridgerton themed ball in January this year

Get dressed up

Okay, we’ll admit it. The thing we love the most about Bridgerton is the clothes! There have been some unbelievable outfits across both series’ of the show, and we were lucky enough to host a Bridgerton themed ball at 116 Pall Mall in January, organised and hosted by Enchanted Events. With guests flying in from as far as the United States, our whole building was alive with colour and sound, with a live orchestra, incredible clothes, a sit-down banquet and dancing galore! We felt like we’d stepped back in time in the most magical way, and our team are all hoping we make it onto the guestlist for the next grand ball!

“Fetch me my Stationery!”

Like almost all at the time, Bridgerton’s couplings are pre-arranged, and while we can’t find you the perfect partner, we can design and host your perfect day, taking the stress out of everything from the date and the décor to the food and photographer. Get in touch with our team today - online is best, but you could also send your footman with a note - and start planning the regency wedding of your dreams.
