From Peru to Pall Mall – introducing our signature Searcys coffee blend

As we continue into the new year, it’s got us all thinking about what gets us out of bed in the morning. For some it’s an energising workout, for others it’s a passion for their work and a desire to do good. But let’s be honest, the thing that really gets us going is a good cup of coffee!

Here at 116 Pall Mall, coffee is something we take very seriously – so much so that we’ve worked with our partners at Searcys and artisan roastery Extract Coffee Roasters from Bristol to create a signature blend for visitors to 116 Pall Mall.

Colombia Veracruz coffee

Available all day at the grazing station in our beautiful Carlton Room, curated as a co-working space for individuals or groups, our exclusive Searcys blend has hints of caramel, cocoa, black cherry and liquorice and tastes great however you take your coffee. Great news for those of you giving a plant-based diet a go beyond Veganuary - it blends perfectly with milk alternatives like oat or almond milk and is smooth and sweet enough to drink black if that’s your usual style.

And it doesn’t just taste good – it does good too. Our ethically sourced blend is 100% arabica coffee organically farmed by smallholders in Peru and a family of coffee growers in Colombia, who are in constant contact with our Bristol-based roasters, ensuring the best care is taken of the workers and the beans. Extract Coffee Roasters have been working with the La Marianela coffee estate for over a decade and are proud to call them friends. Found in Colombia, La Marianela is owned by agronomist Hernan Dorronsoro and his son Pablo, and is also a nature reserve, with a protected waterway and ethical practices. These relationships ensure our blend has bean-to-cup traceability, from Colombia to the Carlton Lounge.

And the sustainable credentials don’t end there - the beans are bought for a fair price – higher than that stipulated as ‘fair-trade’ - and then hand-roasted in Bristol especially for us, in a 120kg Probat Roaster who is affectionately named Bertha. Since we first met her, Bertha is now 85% more energy efficient, thanks to being restored and modified by one of Extract’s co-founders Dave.

Carrot cake and coffee

We’d encourage everyone to come and pay us a visit at 116 Pall Mall to sample our signature Searcys blend either during the day in the Carlton Lounge, over an espresso martini in the evening in our restaurant or Champagne Bar or with our delicious Afternoon Tea on a Saturday to taste it for themselves – and don’t forget to let our team know what you think of it!

Carlton Lounge grazing station

The inviting new grazing station for members in the Lounge has an array of small bites to enjoy from 8am until 5pm. We have introduced high-quality self-service coffee machines to enjoy unlimited macchiato, espresso, cappuccino, latte and americano to suit all tastes. Tuck into a selection of energising morning snacks and pastries. For lunch, enjoy savoury treats before tucking into trays of freshly baked cakes in the late afternoon to tempt the members and visitors.

£10 for half a day and £17.50 for a full day
