Celebrating Earth Day at 116 Pall Mall
If you’re not sure where to get started with Earth Day, here’s a few things we’re doing at 116 Pall Mall that you can get involved with:
Our happy hive
As you may know, 116 Pall Mall is not only home to beautiful ballrooms, glittering chandeliers and sweeping staircases, we’re also the proud parents of 20,000 honeybees, who have been spending the winter hibernating outside Café Duke.
We’re delighted that the arrival of spring also means our hardworking hive is getting ready to do what they do best – making honey! We are so excited to share this with you, giving you a bespoke taste of 116 Pall Mall!
As honey production begins, look out for exciting new additions to our Afternoon Tea and Champagne Bar menus, including a brand-new, honey-infused cocktail being served in our Champagne Bar, aptly named 116 Bee’s Knees! We’ll also be introducing a special honey menu being served in our lounges throughout the day, including honey on your porridge or granola, and honey glazed carrots as a side to main dishes.

Pall Mall x Planet Mark
At 116 Pall Mall we’re committed to not only being sustainable on a surface level with our food, beverage and building initiatives, but we’re also proud to be accredited by Planet Mark for the last three years in recognition for the work we’re doing – alongside our sister brand, the IoD – to reduce our carbon footprint and function more sustainably.
Focussing on a range of emissions, including our building, travel, waste, water, procurement and homeworking, Planet Mark are able to calculate our total carbon emissions, which have decreased since the partnership began in 2020, benchmark our performance and set new targets for the year ahead. This ensures we stay on track with our mission to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to the global efforts of halting climate change.

Sustainable sharing
If you have tried using our Carlton Room as your office for the day, that means you’ve been making sustainable choices with your work life already. In the same way that 10 people taking the same bus is better for the environment than driving 10 separate cars, using a co-working space is a great choice this Earth Day. Sharing resources cuts down on waste, sharing the same room means heating and electricity can be use more sparingly, and our grazing station prevents single-use cups and plastic cutlery being used and wasted.
Earth Day Quiz Night at 116 Pall Mall - 20 April 22
The IoD London Property & Built Environment Group is hosting an 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 on the 20th of April from 6pm to 10pm, in support of Earth Day 2022.
Join them for an informal evening of networking and quizzing at 116 Pall Mall, where they’ll be challenging your knowledge on all things planet and sustainability-related and raising money for The Queen's Green Canopy; a unique tree-planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
They ask that whoever joins to donate £10 per player to The Queen’s Green Canopy not-for-profit initiative. Each donation purchases one tree, which will be planted to create green spaces in deprived urban areas and schools across the UK. So, grab your fellow business leaders, friends, and quizzers – or come along solo – and join them in doing our bit to meet our climate crisis and seize the enormous opportunities of a zero-carbon future for Earth Day this year.
